People were gathering across the other side of the bridge
as we walked into Le Bugue
It was Sunday morning
and a Brocante was being set-up
in all of the streets and small lane ways
in Le Bugue.

Day 87 - My Cycling Shop Man in Le Bugue - 279 to go

We couldn't chat
but the language of cycling is universal
He had a sparkle in his eye
and a smile
that recognised
that in the past we both
had many cycling stories to tell
if only we could chat

St Circ Lapopie hides amongst the cliff and forest high above the River Lot.

Day 85 - Fortress Walls - 281 to go

Who's a silly duffer then - I've just realised that a Leap Year has 366 days, not 365 so now we still have 281 photos of France to go.

Opposite yesterday's bridges are the walls
of a long ago destroyed fortress.
It's foundations used for a more recent building,
but signs of it's inner stone stairways remain.
Don't you wish these walls could speak,
and tell tales of past feasts, battles and castle life?

Day 84 - Two Bridges - 281 to go

A bridge crossed many times while we stayed in Vers
The river below - flowed maybe a kilometre to the River Lot.
An earlier bridge can be seen through the arches of this one.
It was only wide enough for pedestrian traffic
or maybe travellers on horseback in long past years ago.

Day 83 - The Scary Road - 282 to go

The caption could just as easily been,
You take the high road
and we'll take the low road.
It was Tommy our GPS that took us on this
high road goat track
when we could just as easily taken
a modern faster road to our destination.
But that would not have been so exciting!!

Look very closely at this image.
We travelled the very scary road that you see
leading from the lower right side.
Room with only one car except for the occasional passing garages.
I didn't notice when I took this picture
that below on the river level was carved
a narrow pathway that allowed beasts of burden
to haul barges along this river in the Dordogne.

Day 82 - Underneath the Arches - 283 to go

Amazing sights through travel - how good is that!
Never seen anything like this in Australia.
We have different amazing sights.

Day 63 - ALBI - 302 to go

We quite enjoyed Albi for our two night overstay
The hotel was the home to the Saxo Bank Tour de France team the previous year
Albi deserved more time
We didn't get the chance to understand her more
Her architecture, museums and the general street life
Maybe next time - if there is another next time.

Day 61 - Albi home to Henri - 303 to go

Toulouse Lautrec grew up in the surrounds of Albi.
The town has a wonderful museum dedicated to Henri.
